Kyle Busch came very close to winning his second Truck race of 2024 with Spire Motorsports. The two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion was in contention for the victory at Bristol, but his chances were hindered by lapped car traffic. Despite this setback, McAnally-Hilgerman Racing’s driver managed to secure his sixth win in the Truck Series and also earned a spot in the playoffs.
Driving the No.7 Spire Motorsports Truck, Kyle Busch showcased his skills throughout the race. He dominated all the stages and was on track to secure the win when a caution flag was waved with 32 laps remaining. Unfortunately, he was spun out by another driver, which led to a heated confrontation after the race.
Due to the incident, Busch fell behind and had to work hard to catch up with Ericks. However, his progress was hampered by lapped car traffic, preventing him from closing the gap and securing the victory. If NASCAR had not called a caution for the Frieson incident, Busch would have likely emerged as the winner.
The new resin coating on the track during the Cup and Truck practice session at Bristol left NASCAR drivers confused. It proved challenging for drivers, especially those who ran earlier, to control their cars during practice. Kyle Busch acknowledged the difficulty and expressed hope that the situation would improve after 100 or 200 laps in the race.
Although the loss in the Truck series race is disappointing, Kyle Busch has his sights set on the bigger picture for Sunday’s Cup event. Starting from P14, he and the No.12 RCR team will need to make extra efforts to secure the race win and put an end to their struggles.
