The Los Angeles Lakers were unable to make any trades during Thursday’s NBA deadline, according to team sources. Despite being linked to several players, including Dejounte Murray, Bruce Brown, Alex Caruso, and Andre Drummond, the Lakers were unwilling to part with their 2029 first-round pick and guard Austin Reaves. Other teams were reportedly demanding higher prices from the Lakers compared to other organizations. General manager Rob Pelinka stated that the Lakers tried everything they could but sometimes no move is better than an unwise move. Pelinka also mentioned that the Lakers will be aggressive in the buyout market to strengthen their roster. They are interested in point guard Spencer Dinwiddie and will monitor Kyle Lowry’s status. Additionally, the Lakers are expected to pursue Kyrie Irving, Trae Young, and Donovan Mitchell in the upcoming free agency period. The team currently sits ninth in the Western Conference with a 27-26 record.
