At the French Grand Prix of MotoGP, Marc Marquez, a well-known racer, along with two other prominent names, will have to go through the initial qualifying round. Meanwhile, Fabio Quartararo, a local rider, secured a spot in Q2 by performing impressively on fresh tires. Despite initially being on the wrong side of the cutoff, Quartararo managed to secure 10th place by a narrow margin of 0.010 seconds. This pushed Enea Bastianini, who currently ranks third in the championship, out of the running for Q2 after crashing his Ducati. Another rider, Brad Binder, also crashed in the final moments of the session, further diminishing his chances of advancing. Joining Bastianini and Binder in the fight for two available spots in Q2 is Marquez, who suffered an early fall during the session. Although Marquez quickly recovered, his progression remains uncertain. The session was dominated by Jorge Martin, the current points leader, followed closely by Pecco Bagnaia. Rookie sensation Pedro Acosta also made an impressive showing, finishing in the top three among the KTM riders. Quartararo was preceded by Aleix Espargaro and followed by Franco Morbidelli and Marco Bezzecchi, who secured the remaining spots in Q2. Unfortunately, Yamaha’s Alex Rins couldn’t replicate Quartararo’s success and finished 15th. The Honda riders had a disappointing session, with four of them occupying the bottom five places. Joan Mir was the fastest among the Honda riders but still finished in 18th place, over a second behind the leaders.
