LSU freshman running back Trey Holly has been taken into custody and charged with second-degree attempted murder following a shooting incident at an apartment complex in Louisiana. The incident resulted in injuries to two individuals. Holly surrendered himself on Thursday and is currently being held on a bond of $512,000. Additionally, he is facing charges of aggravated criminal damage to property and illegal use of a weapon on a public roadway, as stated by Union Parish Sheriff Dusty Gates to The Advocate.
Kelvin Rodgers, one of Holly’s legal representatives, informed The Advocate that his client intends to plead not guilty to all three charges. “Mr. Holly vehemently denies all allegations,” Rodgers expressed to the publication, “and we eagerly anticipate presenting our case in court.”
The Union Parish Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the injured individuals were innocent bystanders. In response to the arrest, LSU has indefinitely suspended Holly from all team activities. The university released a statement addressing the situation: “We have been made aware of the arrest of a student-athlete in connection to the shooting incident in Union Parish. In accordance with our departmental policies, this student-athlete has been suspended indefinitely. Out of respect for the ongoing legal proceedings, we will refrain from making further comments.”
