The United Autosports team has unveiled the livery for their two McLaren 720S GT3 EVOs ahead of the upcoming Qatar Prologue test on Feb. 24-25. The cars, numbered 59 and 95 to commemorate McLaren’s Le Mans victory in 1995, will sport a vibrant papaya and black design. This color scheme pays homage to the brand’s Formula 1 and IndyCar designs while also incorporating elements from their successful past. United Autosports CEO Richard Dean expressed his pride in the new look, stating that it reflects McLaren’s racing heritage and aligns with their current lineup of winning cars in Formula 1, IndyCar, and Formula E.
McLaren Automotive CEO Michael Leiters also expressed his excitement for the team’s WEC debut in Qatar, where the 720S GT3 EVO will be showcased alongside their talented driver lineup. Leiters emphasized the importance of racing to the McLaren brand and highlighted the WEC as the perfect platform to showcase their supercar engineering capabilities. Additionally, the livery chosen for the cars serves as a celebration of McLaren’s historic victory in the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans, further solidifying its significance in the brand’s history.
In the 2024 season, McLaren will be participating in motor racing’s prestigious “triple crown” of the Monaco Grand Prix, Indianapolis 500, and Le Mans. However, in the FIA WEC, they will not be competing for the overall win at Le Mans. Nonetheless, this endeavor marks a significant milestone for McLaren as they aim to conquer all three iconic races in a single season. With their striking livery and ambitious goals, McLaren is poised for success in the world of motorsports.
