In the world of regular Mercedes C-Class sedans and the GT-R, there isn’t much of a comparison. However, things change when the AMG subsidiary gets involved and works its magic on the C-Class to create some classic V8 awesomeness. This was the case during the W205 era, where the C 43 variants had a twin-turbo V6 and the C 63 had a twin-turbo V8. But now, with the current W206 generation, even the mighty C 63 is equipped with a turbocharged inline-four and electric aids.
The videographer from the Wheels Plus YouTube channel is a big fan of dragstrips such as The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Bandimere Speedway, and Mission Raceway Park, also known as ‘Thunder by the River.’ In the video below, we see an AMG sedan, which we believe is a C 63 S, facing off against a black Nissan GT-R. The AMG starts off strong, but the GT-R comes back with a vengeance and wins the race with a remarkable 10s ET and a trap speed difference of 154 vs 129 mph.
Next, the colorful AMG, now equipped with a trunk spoiler, takes on a Mercedes-AMG GT. This time, the setup works perfectly, and the AMG secures a victory with a time of 11.25s against the GT’s 12.16s.
At the 1:36 mark, two more German sedans have a confrontation. However, the most interesting battle occurs right after that when an Audi RS3 challenges a white Nissan GT-R. Initially, the RS3 takes a commanding lead, but to everyone’s surprise, the GT-R manages to catch up and win the race. It turns out that the reaction times played a significant role in the GT-R’s victory.
Overall, these drag races showcase the power and performance of these high-performance sedans and sports cars.
