Milwaukee Bucks center Robin Lopez, who is 35 years old, provoked the opposition during Sunday’s game against the Utah Jazz and suffered a defeat as a consequence.
The Utah Jazz’s mascot, known as Jazz Bear, approached Robin with a sign, mocking him for being slightly inferior to his twin brother, Brook Lopez.

Brook Lopez did not participate in the game due to an injury, and the Utah Jazz also missed their starter, Khris Middleton, in their 123-108 loss. Jazz Bear was not pleased with the outcome on Sunday.

The sign held by Jazz Bear read, “Walked 50 feet from my cave to see my favorite Lopez brother play but have to settle watching [sic] Robin.” Robin reacted by attacking the mascot, grabbing the sign, and tearing it apart.
To the mascot’s credit, Jazz Bear’s sign cleverly imitated the cliché of traveling fans in sports who boast about how far they have traveled to watch a star player. Additionally, it took a dig at Robin Lopez for playing in the shadow of his brother.
Was it a bit harsh? Yes, but that’s the nature of sports. And Lopez retaliated.
Robin Lopez’s actions may not only result in a call from the league offices, but also a letter from PETA for mistreating a fictional animal.
Robin Lopez has a complicated relationship with mascots, sometimes hating them and other times being their ally.
Interestingly, Lopez’s history with mascots swings between positive and negative experiences.
In the past, Robin Lopez attacked the Indiana Pacers’ mascot, Boomer. However, he was later seen exchanging jerseys with San Antonio’s Coyote.
It’s time for Robin to pick a side.
