MP Motorsport has announced that Alex Dunne will join their Formula 3 team for the upcoming season. Dunne, who competed in the GB3 Championship last year, had an impressive rookie season with five victories for Hitech Grand Prix. He also tested with Hitech Pulse-Eight in the post-season F3 test at Imola, where he topped the timesheets in wet conditions.
Prior to his GB3 success, Dunne achieved great results in the F4 British Championship, with 11 wins, 11 pole positions, and 17 podium finishes out of 27 races. He then moved on to the Italian F4 Championship, where he secured three wins and 11 podiums, finishing second overall.
Dunne expressed his excitement about joining MP Motorsport for his first full season in FIA F3. He acknowledged the challenge of competing against the best drivers in single-seater racing but is eager to get started and build on his experience from the post-season F3 test.
MP Motorsport Team Principal, Sander Dorsman, praised Dunne’s performance at the Macau Grand Prix, where he finished second in the qualifying race. Dunne will be joining Red Bull Junior Team member Tim Tramnitz and Polish racer Kacper Sztuka as part of MP Motorsport’s FIA F3 lineup.
Dorsman is confident that Dunne, along with his teammates, will excel in their debut seasons and is thrilled to have him on board. With their collective talent and drive, MP Motorsport is ready to make their mark in the third-tier category.
