NBA All-Star Weekend this season will feature a new element. Following the conclusion of the regular three-point contest, there will be a face-off between NBA and WNBA stars to determine who can make the most three-pointers from their respective league’s line. Representing the men’s side will be Stephen Curry, widely regarded as the greatest shooter of all time. Curry has won two three-point contests in his career, including the most recent one in 2021. He has already made 61 more deep shots than any other player in the NBA this season. On the women’s side, Sabrina Ionescu will be the representative. She set a record in last year’s three-point contest, scoring 37 out of a possible 40 points in the final round. This surpassed the previous record of 31, held by Curry, who was challenged by Ionescu after her impressive performance.
Various players in the NBA have shared their predictions on who they believe will win the competition. Kyrie Irving, the point guard for the Mavericks, expects Ionescu to defend her title and come out as the winner. While he respects Curry, Irving is rooting for Ionescu to maintain her championship status. Suns’ forward Kevin Durant initially chose Ionescu but later switched his prediction back to Curry, jokingly mentioning his tendency to change his mind. Draymond Green, Curry’s teammate, confidently supports Curry as the greatest shooter of all time, questioning why anyone would doubt his abilities.
All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis, Indiana, will span three days and include various events. The Celebrity Game and Rising Stars Challenge will kick off the weekend on Friday night. Saturday will be the highlight with the Skills Challenge, Three-Point Contest, and Dunk Contest all scheduled for the evening. The face-off between Curry and Ionescu will also take place on Saturday. The official All-Star Game will conclude the weekend on Sunday afternoon.
