In 2021, the least expensive Toyota Land Cruiser had a price tag of $85,665. It was an eight-person vehicle capable of towing up to 8,200 pounds (3,719 kilograms). However, the 2024 Land Cruiser is now only available as a five-person vehicle and can tow up to 6,000 pounds (2,772 kilograms).
After a two-year absence, the Land Cruiser is making a comeback in the United States. It arrives with a rugged and versatile appearance, drawing inspiration from its design in the late 1950s when it first arrived in the US. This was long before it gained its renowned reputation as an off-road vehicle.
The all-new 2024 Land Cruiser is built on the TNGA-F body-on-frame global truck platform, which it shares with the Tundra, Sequoia, and Tacoma. It is powered by a 2.4-liter turbocharged engine that is now integrated into the i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain.
This system produces a total of 326 horsepower (330 metric horsepower) and 465 pound-feet (630 Newton meters) of torque. It is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that distributes power and torque to all four wheels through the all-wheel drive system.
To enhance its off-road capabilities, the Land Cruiser features an electronic locking rear differential that splits power evenly between the wheels for improved traction. When the front stabilizer bar is disconnected, it increases articulation and helps keep the front tires on the ground.
The Multi-Terrain Select function is now available in both 4WD High and Low modes. It assists in controlling wheel spin based on the type of surface the SUV is driving on. Additionally, the 2024 Land Cruiser comes standard with Downhill Assist Control, which maintains a constant speed while descending, and updated CRAWL Control, a low-speed off-road cruise control with five selectable speeds.
Toyota has made adjustments to the Land Cruiser to maintain its off-road capabilities. The front overhang has been reduced, resulting in an approach angle of 31 degrees. The breakover and departure angles remain the same as the previous generation at 25 degrees and 22 degrees, respectively.
Although the third row of seats has been eliminated, the 2024 Land Cruiser now features an 8-inch or 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen that showcases Toyota’s latest Audio Multimedia system. It also supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Additionally, a premium 14-speaker JBL audio system and Qi wireless charging are included.
The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser is offered in three different grades. Customers can choose between the Land Cruiser 1958, Land Cruiser, and the limited-run First Edition. The entry-level version pays homage to the first-generation Land Cruiser with retro-styled round LED headlights reminiscent of the 60 Series. It also includes heated fabric seats and the iconic TOYOTA heritage grille. The vehicle is equipped with a 7-inch instrument cluster, 8-inch touchscreen, five USB-C ports, and a six-speaker sound system.
Toyota has unveiled the latest version of its Land Cruiser SUV, featuring a range of new features and upgrades. The vehicle now comes with rectangular LED headlights, power, heated and ventilated SofTex-trimmed front seats, a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen. In addition, it boasts a 10-speaker sound system, rigid color selectable LED fog lights, the Stabilizer Disconnect Mechanism, the Multi-Terrain Select, and the Multi-Terrain Monitor. The starting price for this model is $63,445.
For customers looking for even more luxury, there is the option to add the Premium Package. This includes leather-trimmed, heated, and ventilated power front seats with lumber support and driver memory features. It also includes a Head-up Display and a 14-speaker JBL premium audio system.
Those interested in a limited edition version can opt for the First Edition. This comes with the Premium Package as standard, unique 18-inch wheels, and a ‘First Edition’ logo on the door panels. To enhance its off-road capabilities, it also includes a roof rack, rock rails, and a front skid plate. The price for the First Edition is $76,445 and only 5,000 units will be produced.
The Land Cruiser will be available in seven different exterior paintworks: Ice Cap, Wind Chill Pearl, underground, Black, Meteor Shower, Trail Dust, and Heritage Blue. Toyota also offers a two-tone Trail Dust and Heritage Blue combination with the Grayscape roof.
The new Land Cruiser is set to arrive in the US in the spring with a starting price of $55,950 or $57,445 with the destination fee included.
Toyota provides a comprehensive warranty for the Land Cruiser. It offers a 36-month or 36,000-mile basic new-vehicle warranty for all components, excluding normal wear and maintenance items. Additionally, there is a 60-month/60,000-mile warranty for the powertrain and a 60-month warranty against corrosion perforation with no mileage limitation. The battery is covered for 10 years and 150,000 miles.
