Former winner of the Men’s Doubles at the Australian Open continues to recover from his injury. His injury at the end of 2022 caused him to miss the first half of the 2023 season. He had hoped to return for the Grass season and made his season debut in Stuttgart.
However, he failed to win the match and to make matters worse, he suffered another injury. The Australian was eventually ruled out for the season and has yet to play in 2024 as well. Fans, and even he, had hoped he would be ready for the home leg of 2024, but his recovery was not up to par and he had to sit out.
He is, however, not far from the tennis courts. He had a short stint with Tennis Channel before becoming a commentator for Eurosport for this year’s Australian Open. Currently, he is hosting his new show ‘Good Trouble with Nick Kyrgios’ where he has candid conversations with his guests.
His first guest was the famous chef . The two engaged in a lengthy conversation discussing various topics. During this conversation, the former World No. 13 opened up about how tennis, despite being an individual sport, still has a sense of team spirit.

Kyrgios further explained why this environment complicates rivalries. With players spending a lot of time together, a camaraderie develops between them. The Australian, who is a big basketball fan, finds tennis ‘crazy’ due to the imbalance between individualism and team spirit.

Kyrgios is currently ranked 470th in the world due to his long absence. He has only played 16 matches on clay since 2016, and it seems unlikely that he will make a comeback on the surface he dislikes the most.
However, he had promised to take his girlfriend Costeen Hatzi to Paris, and for that, he was willing to play at the French Open. However, given the current circumstances, it is difficult to predict whether he will participate in this year’s Roland Garros.
