Novak Djokovic has not had the usual start to his season. The Serbian commenced his 2024 season with the United Cup. While he performed decently, Djokovic was unable to lead his team to the semifinals. The 24-time Grand Slam champion then participated in the 2024 Australian Open, aiming to successfully defend his title in Melbourne.
However, something seemed amiss right from the beginning. Despite reaching the semifinals, Djokovic had to battle for victories. Whether it was against Dino Prizmic, Alexei Popyrin, or Taylor Fritz, the Serbian star appeared to struggle with his game.
In the semifinal, Djokovic faced Jannik Sinner, who completely overwhelmed him, especially in the first two sets. Djokovic could only secure three games in the first two sets. He managed to win the third set, but Sinner struck back in the fourth set, winning it 6-3.
With this defeat, Djokovic’s journey at the Australian Open came to a close. The Serbian then took some time off and went on a vacation with his family in Italy. Now, he has returned and commenced his practice sessions. The 36-year-old will be focused on claiming his sixth title in Indian Wells.
