Esteban Ocon of the Alpine F1 Team celebrates his third place finish in the parc ferme at the Monaco Grand Prix in 2023. The Formula 1 World Championship, Round 7, took place in Monte Carlo, Monaco.
Ocon has expressed his desire for Alpine to achieve more moments like their podium finish at the Monaco Grand Prix last year as they prepare for the 2024 Formula 1 season.
Despite Ocon and his teammate Pierre Gasly both securing a podium finish, Alpine dropped from fourth to sixth in the Constructors’ Championship last season. This decline was due to a lack of consistency with their car concept, which had reached its limit and resulted in a 53-point deficit compared to their 2022 points tally.
Ocon, who has been with the team for five years since joining under the Renault name, hopes that their long-standing relationship will benefit them in the upcoming 2024 season.
“We value the continuity and appreciate the opportunity to continue working together. It establishes a routine and strengthens the relationships we have formed,” Ocon said.
“These factors will not only enhance our performance during the high moments but, perhaps more importantly, during the low ones. I am excited to maintain this momentum and strive for greatness together this season.”
Ocon, who achieved his only Formula 1 victory with the team in Hungary in 2021, aims to enjoy the season and have no regrets when it concludes.
“We must maximize the potential of our resources every time we hit the track. That is my goal,” he emphasized.
“As an experienced driver, I believe everything is in place to accomplish this. Our collective hard work, whether on the track or in our preparations at the factories, plays a crucial role. I am fully prepared for the challenges ahead.”
During the winter break, Ocon disclosed that he has been playing the video game Gran Turismo to maintain his focus and sharpness.
“It has been an excellent tool to keep my skills honed, improve my reactions in wheel-to-wheel racing, and maintain that competitive edge,” he revealed.
