Pat McAfee has managed to keep his sports talk show drama-free for an entire month, but it seems he couldn’t resist getting back into the conflict. In January, McAfee accused Norby Williamson of trying to sabotage his show, causing a lot of tension at ESPN. Since then, McAfee has focused on providing entertaining sports analysis on his show. However, that changed when he publicly called out former ESPN personality Bill Simmons.
During a discussion on his show, McAfee criticized Simmons for getting thousands of people to bet on his Super Bowl LVIII parlay on FanDuel, which ultimately resulted in losses for his fans. McAfee used this as an opportunity to mock Simmons and his supposed expertise. He also mentioned that he had a much larger following for his own parlay, although he didn’t reveal whether he won or not.
It’s unclear what exactly prompted McAfee’s strong reaction towards Simmons, but it may have been a result of Simmons mocking McAfee’s unique approach to discussing NFL headlines on his podcast. Simmons imitated McAfee’s style and seemed unimpressed by it. McAfee, however, waited almost a month before responding, possibly because of the previous drama with Norby Williamson or simply because he recently became aware of Simmons’ comments.
Regardless of the reason, it seems that McAfee and Simmons are now engaged in a potential feud. Both individuals are known for their ability to generate controversy, so this could escalate quickly. It’s definitely a situation worth keeping an eye on.
