Patrick Mahomes Sr. has confessed to consuming alcoholic beverages prior to the 53-year-old receiving a DWI charge from Tyler police.
The father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Patrick Mahomes Sr., was arrested on Saturday night following his DWI charge.
The specific details have yet to be disclosed, but it has been confirmed that Mahomes Sr. had an unsealed bottle of beer in his vehicle when he was pulled over by law enforcement.
During the traffic stop, the former professional baseball pitcher admitted to “having a few beers” while watching a game at a local bar near his residence.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time Mahomes Sr. has faced a DWI charge, as this recent incident adds to his previous two offenses.
The news may cause some disruption for Patrick Mahomes, who is currently preparing for Super Bowl LVIII as a star player for the Kansas City Chiefs.
At 28 years old, Mahomes has the opportunity to win back-to-back Super Bowls for the first time in his career and secure his third championship ring, with the potential for more throughout his professional tenure.
Despite being considered one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, alongside Tom Brady, this year has been one of the most challenging in Mahomes’ recent career, based on statistical analysis.
The Kansas City QB threw for a total of 4,183 yards, the lowest distance achieved since 2019, and contributed to 27 touchdowns, also the lowest count since 2019.
Furthermore, Mahomes experienced the highest number of losses in a season since becoming a starter, with a total of six defeats. While this may reflect the team’s overall performance, it still impacts the 28-year-old negatively.
All of these factors would be insignificant if Mahomes leads his team to another Super Bowl victory, but the San Francisco 49ers will be seeking redemption after their defeat to the Chiefs in Super Bowl 2020.
