Immediately, it is evident that the Lion brand has opted for a more angular design approach. The new e-5008 (the EV – ICE models will be referred to as the 5008) features a more upright front with a closed-off grille (the ICE models have an open grille), slim LED headlights, and a subtle DRL signature below them, which is barely visible due to the heavy camouflage.
Moving lower, the car has a taller and narrower air intake. Traditional door handles and softer lines can also be observed along its profile. The A-pillars appear to be less slanted, and the back end of the roofline is slightly curved towards the tailgate, where the rear license plate has been relocated to a recess in the new bumper.
Transitioning from the PSA EMP2 platform to the STLA Medium platform will result in a more spacious interior with an improved cargo area. This change will also allow for the adoption of various powertrain options. As mentioned earlier, this prototype is equipped with electric power, and it may share powertrain components with the latest e-3008, which is its smaller sibling and also utilizes the same platform. This is similar to the upcoming Jeep Compass, hence the reference in the title.

Therefore, prospective buyers can expect the e-5008 to offer two battery options: a 73 kWh unit and a 98 kWh unit, delivering up to 316 horsepower. These specifications are similar to those of the new e-3008, and it is possible that the next e-5008 will offer even more power to compensate for its larger size. In terms of range, it is anticipated that the most efficient version of the e-5008 will be able to travel up to 400 miles (approximately 640 km) on a full charge, considering that the smaller model can achieve 435 miles (700 km) with a fully charged battery.
Peugeot’s all-new 5008 will also be available with internal combustion power, likely including partially electrified options. As a result, it will be a versatile choice in the mid-size crossover segment, particularly in the market across the pond, where it will inevitably compete with its cousin, the next Compass from Jeep.
The French automaker, a part of Stellantis, has not yet announced the premiere date for the upcoming e-5008 (and 5008). However, if we were to speculate, we would anticipate a debut sometime this year, possibly in the second half, with deliveries potentially beginning towards the end of 2024.
