Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has stated that Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) still hold a high opinion of Manchester City star Bernardo Silva, but they have yet to decide if they will pursue a move for him in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Last week, Romano and other prominent journalists reported that Kylian Mbappe would be leaving PSG as a free agent when his contract expires on June 30. While Real Madrid is believed to be his likely destination, there are also rumors linking him to Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City.
With Lionel Messi and Neymar already departed, and Mbappe on his way out, PSG find themselves lacking proven match-winners. As a result, they are reportedly eager to address this issue. Several top players, including Victor Osimhen from Napoli, Rafael Leao from AC Milan, and Bernardo Silva from Manchester City, have been linked with a potential move to the Parc des Princes. However, Romano suggests that PSG has not yet finalized their primary targets for the summer.
Romano mentioned PSG and Barcelona’s interest in Silva last summer but noted that it remains uncertain if PSG will reignite their pursuit of the Portuguese playmaker in July. He highlighted that Bernardo Silva is a highly regarded player and has been frequently linked with PSG due to his exceptional abilities. However, Manchester City decided to offer him a new contract as he is considered crucial to Pep Guardiola’s plans.
In his recent Daily Briefing column, Romano stated, “PSG is now preparing for a future without Mbappe, but the exact details are still unclear. There will undoubtedly be numerous rumors and links to big-name players. Bernardo Silva from Manchester City is one name that has been frequently associated with PSG, which is understandable given his outstanding talent. We also know that both PSG and Barcelona expressed their interest in Silva last summer. However, Man City ultimately offered him a new contract because he is an essential player for Guardiola.”
Romano concluded by saying, “As I mentioned in my previous article, PSG has not yet determined their top targets for the summer. While Bernardo Silva is still highly regarded, it is too early to say whether PSG will make a strong push to sign the Portuguese playmaker again, or if they will prioritize other players this time around.”
Silva joined Manchester City from AS Monaco in July 2017 and has since made 336 appearances for the club across all competitions. He has scored 63 goals and provided 63 assists. The five-time Premier League winner’s contract is set to expire in June 2026.
