Spanish tennis icon Rafael Nadal is set to make his comeback at the Indian Wells and Miami Open tournaments. In collaboration with Nike, his long-time apparel sponsor, Nadal has unveiled a remarkable new design for his shoes. The internet has quickly gone abuzz with images of these black shoes, featuring the iconic Nike logo in red and the imprint of his nickname, ‘RAFA’, on the back. These shoes will be worn by the Spaniard as he takes to the court for the ATP 1000 events in Indian Wells and Miami.
Despite his return to the tour, Nadal is still on the path to full fitness. The 37-year-old recently made a comeback at the Brisbane International but was eliminated in the third round. Due to concerns about his readiness for such a high-intensity tournament, Nadal opted out of the 2024 Australian Open. He was then expected to return to action during the Middle East leg of the tour, but withdrew from the Qatar Open due to fitness issues.
Expressing his disappointment, Nadal shared his desire to compete in Doha, where he has always received tremendous support from the tournament team and the passionate fans of Qatar. However, he acknowledged that he is not yet prepared to compete and will not be able to participate in Doha as originally planned.
Now, Nadal is gearing up for the Indian Wells Open, where he has confirmed his participation. Following this, he will also compete in the Miami Open before transitioning to the clay court season. Despite his recent injuries, the 37-year-old remains focused on his ultimate goal of clinching the French Open title and has his sights set on the Paris Olympics as well.
