Felix Rosenqvist dominated the opening practice session of the NTT IndyCar Series in St. Petersburg, Florida. Driving for Meyer Shank Racing, Rosenqvist quickly showcased his comfort in his new car by setting the fastest time of the session. He completed the 1.8-mile course in 1 minute, 0.339 seconds, leaving his competitors nearly half a second behind. Pato O’Ward came in second, followed closely by Marcus Armstrong. Will Power and Rinus VeeKay completed the top five, representing five different teams. Despite changes in the car’s performance, times were slightly faster than last year’s practice session. The introduction of a new practice format divided the field into two groups, allowing drivers to find clear track and run faster laps. While there were a few red flags due to drivers sliding into the runoff areas, no major accidents occurred. Drivers and teams will analyze today’s data and return to the track on Saturday morning for the second practice session of the weekend.
