Serena Williams made an appearance at the Pre-Grammy Gala before the 66th Grammy Awards to introduce one of her favorite bands, Green Day. Serena had the opportunity to enjoy performances by other artists such as the Isley Brothers, Maluma, and Gladys Knight.
Serena shared on Instagram, “When @billiejoearmstrong calls you to present their band, you jump on a plane and do it.” She also shared her chosen dress code for the event, which she described as “less talk more gold please.”
It’s no surprise that Serena Williams has been a longtime fan of Green Day. However, do you know which songs from the band are her favorites? The retired American tennis legend has listed her top Green Day tracks.
The first time Serena met the members of Green Day was during one of Jimmy Kimmel’s shows. As a gesture of gratitude, Serena gave Kimmel and his children a tour of Wimbledon in 2012 during the Summer Olympics in London. Armstrong, one of the band members, mentioned how they would encounter Serena in different European countries because she was dominating in each of those countries.
In addition to being a fan of Green Day, Serena is also known for being a big supporter of Beyonce. She even appeared in Beyonce’s music video for “Lemonade.” It seems that the support goes both ways, as Beyonce contributed to the King Richard movie, a biography that tells the story of the Williams sisters’ journey to success.
Now that we have discussed Serena’s presence at the Grammy Awards, let’s take a look at some of the winners.
