The Premier League boasts some of the most iconic and esteemed stadiums in Europe. From Wembley to Anfield and Stamford Bridge to the Emirates, the list goes on. However, one of the few remaining venues that have been largely ‘untouched’ since its establishment is set to undergo a reconstruction. Yes, we’re referring to Old Trafford – the stronghold constructed in 1910, and immortalized by a long list of legendary footballers.
The stadium has rightfully earned the moniker of ‘The Theatre of Dreams’ despite the current state of the club not doing it justice. That being said, part owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has given approval for a monumental overhaul of the stadium. According to reports, the potential cost of the rebuild will range from 1 to 2 billion pounds.
The 71-year-old businessman intends to transform Old Trafford into the ‘Wembley of the North’, in competition with the 90,000-capacity stadium in northwestern London. An unidentified source claimed,

Rumors of a potential renovation of the stadium had been circulating months ago when 3 ‘options’ were presented to the INEOS chairman.
