No.2 Stanford University secured their spot in the semifinals of the ITA National Team Indoor Championships by defeating No.12 Ohio State University with a score of 4-1 on Saturday afternoon. In the upcoming second semifinal on Sunday, February 11, 2024, the Cardinal will face off against Oklahoma State University, who emerged victorious in a hard-fought match against the University of Texas with a final score of 4-3 for the Cowgirls.
Stanford’s impressive performance, led by Alexis Blokhina, propelled them to victory over Ohio State in the quarterfinals of the ITA National Indoor Team Championships. Blokhina’s outstanding 7-6 (5), 7-5 win proved to be the deciding factor for Stanford, marking their first appearance in the semifinals since 2020. The Cardinal took an early 1-0 lead after securing the double point.
Connie Ma and Alexandra Yepifanova also contributed wins for Stanford, while Ohio State managed to secure a victory in one match. With three matches remaining, one of which had reached the third set and another heading for a tie-break, Blokhina avoided prolonging her match by securing a set victory on court four.
In tomorrow’s semifinals at 3:30 p.m. PT, the Cardinal will face the winner between Oklahoma State and Texas.

However, Stanford’s Connie Ma and Alexandra Yepifanova secured a 6-1 victory against Irina Cantos Siemers and Audrey Spencer from Ohio State, while Katherine Hui and Valencia Xu also emerged victorious with a 6-3 win against Madeline Atway and Teah Chavez from Ohio State.
Moving on to the women’s singles matches, Irina Cantos Siemers from Ohio State defeated Angelica Blake from Stanford with a score of 6-1, 6-2. However, Stanford’s Connie Ma emerged victorious with a 6-2, 6-0 win against Sydni Ratliff from Ohio State. Alexandra Yepifanova from Stanford also secured a win with a score of 7-6 (3), 6-3 against Luciana Perry from Ohio State. Additionally, Alexis Blokhina from Stanford won her match against Teah Chavez from Ohio State with a score of 7-6 (5), 7-5. Katherine Hui from Stanford defeated Shelly Bereznyak from Ohio State with a score of 6-3, 6-6, resulting in a disqualification. Lastly, Valencia Xu from Stanford emerged victorious with a score of 6-1, 5-7, 3-0, resulting in a disqualification for Audrey Spencer from Ohio State.
Safiya Carrington’s triumph in a third-set tiebreaker propelled Oklahoma State to victory over No. 10 Texas, securing their place in the semifinals of the ITA Indoor Nationals on Saturday night in Seattle, Washington. With this win, the Cowgirls maintain their undefeated record of 7-0 for the season, including three wins against top-10 opponents and six wins against top-15 opponents.
For the first time in program history, Stanford is heading to the semifinals.
Michigan advances to the semifinals of the ITA Division I Women’s National Team Indoor Championship! The Cowgirls took an early lead by winning the doubles point. Texas was the first to emerge victorious in doubles on court three, with Charlotte Chavatipon and Vivian Ovrootsky defeating Kristina Novak and Safiya Carrington, 6-2. Oklahoma State quickly responded by winning on court one, as Anastasiya Komar and Ange Oby Kajuru beat Taisiya Pachkaleva and Sabina Zeynalova, 6-3. Ayumi Miyamoto and Raquel Gonzalez secured double points for OSU on court two, defeating Tanya Sasnouskaya and Malaika Rapolu, 6-2.
In singles, the Cowgirls extended their lead. Kristina Novak eliminated Pachkaleva, winning 6-1, 6-3. Kajuru then defeated Sasnouskaya, 6-2, 6-2. Texas fought back by winning the next three points. Rapolu defeated Lucia Peyre, 6-1, 6-4. Zeynalova beat Komar, 6-3, 6-4, and Ovrootsky defeated Miyamoto, 6-1, 7-6 (7-3).
Carrington managed to force a third set against No. 120 Chavatipon. The match ended in a tie-break, where Carrington secured the OSU victory, 5-7, 7-5, 7-6 (7-2).
