MIKE TOMLIN EYEING ERIC BIENIEMY FOR STEELERS PASS GAME COORDINATOR ROLE
The Pittsburgh Steelers are leaving no stone unturned in their search for a new pass game coordinator. And one name that has emerged as a potential candidate is Eric Bieniemy.
According to Steelers Now’s Alan Saunders, Bieniemy, who was once considered a top offensive coordinator in the NFL, could be the perfect fit for the Steelers. Despite a less impressive season with the Washington Commanders, Saunders believes that Bieniemy’s expertise in the passing game could be just what the Steelers need to improve their offense.
Saunders also points out that Bieniemy has a connection to Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, as he was an assistant under the highly successful Andy Reid with the Kansas City Chiefs. With the Chiefs, Bieniemy helped lead the team to top 6 finishes in both yards and points from 2018-2022.
While it’s true that the Washington Commanders struggled under Bieniemy’s guidance, it’s worth noting that he had success with the Chiefs, thanks in part to having Patrick Mahomes as his quarterback and Andy Reid calling the plays.
With 16 years of NFL coaching experience, including 10 years with the Chiefs, Bieniemy certainly has the credentials to make an impact with the Steelers.
The Steelers have already begun interviewing candidates for the offensive coaching staff, including Tom Arth, Charles London, and Zach Azzani. However, Saunders believes that Bieniemy stands out as the best choice among the candidates.
As the Steelers look to improve their passing game in 2024, hiring Bieniemy could be a game-changer for the team. With his experience and track record of success, he could be the missing piece that helps the Steelers take their offense to the next level.
