The 2024 Skoda Octavia, a popular model from the Czech automaker, is set to make its debut on February 14 at 10 AM CET (4 AM EST). The unveiling will be live-streamed online, allowing viewers to witness the “modified looks,” typical of mid-cycle refreshes, as well as the “improved technologies” and “innovations” in its interior.
Although Skoda presents the new Octavia as a completely new vehicle, it is actually a facelifted version of the fourth-generation model, which is now five years old. The updates primarily focus on the bumpers and lighting units, giving the car a refreshed appearance. Inside, the Octavia will feature a new infotainment system, previously seen in leaked images, alongside an updated digital instrument cluster.
The press release from Skoda does not provide specific details about the mentioned “innovations,” leaving enthusiasts curious about what to expect from the compact model. Similarly, information about the powertrain options remains limited. However, it is anticipated that the Octavia will continue to offer three- and four-cylinder gasoline engines, as well as at least two plug-in hybrid variants. Additionally, a diesel engine and a compressed natural gas (CNG) option are likely to be part of the lineup.
Fans of Skoda’s RS (vRS in the UK) models will be pleased to know that the upcoming Octavia will still be available in a sporty variant. The facelifted version will boast more aggressive looks, special wheels, beefier brakes, and a retuned chassis. The RS/vRS models will also offer more power compared to the rest of the range.
Currently, the Octavia RS shares its engine with the pre-facelifted VW Golf GTI. However, the latest version of the hot hatch has received a power boost, delivering 261 hp (265 ps/195 kW) compared to the previous 242 hp (245 ps/180 kW). As a result, it is expected that the 2024 Skoda Octavia RS will have similar performance and will be equipped with a dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Reports suggest that the Scout version of the Octavia, which features a raised suspension, will not be available for the 2024 model. Instead, the Octavia will be offered as a hatchback and station wagon. Multiple trim levels will be available, with the top grades offering the best features and amenities.
More details about the latest Octavia will be revealed in just two days. We will be covering the online unveiling, so stay tuned for additional information as it becomes available.
