Chinese models are expanding their presence in the European market step by step. They are surpassing German, Italian, and British models by offering prices that are significantly lower than those of European cars in every category. This is exactly what the Series 3 is currently doing, aiming to outperform the competition. It is the least expensive electric crossover available in the United Kingdom.
Operated by Dongfeng, Seres presents the 3 as a high-quality model and provides two different versions: Active and Spirit. Distributed through IA Electric Vehicles, it will arrive in the UK in the coming spring, with prices starting at £29,995 ($37,680).
Seres boasts a modern design and advanced technology, along with premium materials inside the vehicle. The base model includes keyless start, a rear-view camera, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen. Meanwhile, the Spirit grade offers a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, and heated front seats. The dashboard and seats are covered in leather upholstery. Customers can also opt for the top-of-the-line Seres 3, priced at £31,995 ($40,207).
The Chinese automaker highlights the installation of six airbags and ISOFIX at the rear, although these are mandatory features in the European Union. They also promise a practical and hassle-free cabin.
Measuring 173 inches (4,395 millimeters) in length, 72.8 inches (1,850 millimeters) in width, and 65 inches (1,650 millimeters) in height, with a wheelbase of 104.5 inches (2,655 inches), the Seres 3 falls into the small electric crossover segment, competing against the Kia Mazda CX-30, Volvo EX30, and Peugeot e-2008. It showcases a muscular design, elongated LED headlights, and anthracite grey multi-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels.
Regardless of the trim level, the Seres 3 is powered by an electric motor producing 161 horsepower (163 metric horsepower), which drives the rear wheels. While it has a sporty appearance, it is not a sports car. It takes 9 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (0 to 97 kph).
Equipped with a 54 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, the car can travel up to 205 miles (330 kilometers) before needing to be recharged, according to the WLTP standard. It can be recharged from 20 to 80 percent in just 30 minutes.
Customers will be able to order the UK’s most affordable electric crossover starting in the upcoming spring.
