The debut of the Taycan was more significant than one might think. A decade ago, it was revealed that the first-ever Porsche designed by Ferdinand Porsche was fully electric. The prototype, known as the P1 or the Egger-Lohner electric vehicle C.2 Phaeton model, was discovered in an Austrian garage where it had been stored for 112 years.
In late 2019, five years after the P1 was unveiled as the inaugural Porsche and one year after Tesla launched a Roadster into space, the brand introduced the Taycan with a simultaneous launch on three continents. This was a pivotal moment, as it marked Europe’s official challenge to Tesla’s dominance. Porsche’s ability to strip Tesla of its hard-earned first-mover advantage was a game-changing event.
However, Porsche’s strategy didn’t quite pan out as expected. Tesla recognized that the high-priced Model S and Model X would not guarantee a significant increase in revenue. Instead, it was the Model 3, Model Y, and the promise of transforming them into robotaxis through the Full Self-Driving (FSD) advanced driver-assistance system that propelled Tesla to international stardom. Last year, the Model Y became the world’s best-selling vehicle.
Nevertheless, Porsche did not waste any time either. They recently launched the all-electric Macan, which has the potential to become the luxury SUV that affluent individuals would choose over the Model Y.
Now, the revised Taycan is here, and it aims to convince people that the Model S, Mercedes-Benz EQE, BMW i5, Audi e-tron GT, and other cars powered by internal combustion engines are not worth considering.
Selecting the ideal 2025 Porsche TaycanThe Zuffenhausen factory produces this electric vehicle in sedan, station wagon, and off-road station wagon variants. The latter is designed to handle SUV tasks as well, thanks to a slightly improved ground clearance. It sits 0.78 inches (20 millimeters) higher off the ground compared to the sedan without the Offroad Design pack.
By ticking the option box, the difference in ride height increases to 1.18 inches (30 millimeters). Activating Lift Mode raises the maximum ground clearance to 7.04 inches (179 millimeters) until the speed limit of 19 mph (30 kph) is exceeded. After surpassing this threshold, the ground clearance automatically lowers.
Choosing the right body style is crucial due to the high price of this car. The sedan is suitable for young individuals or people of all ages seeking a luxurious commuting vehicle. The wagon is ideal for families and drivers interested in zero-emission hypermiling.
If you intend to make this Porsche your sole vehicle, then the lifted wagon is the best choice. It maximizes interior space and ground clearance. With a stroller in the 15.7 cu-ft trunk and a cooler in the 2.9 cu-ft frunk, you’ll be ready for a pleasant day out with the family. Keep in mind that opting for the upgraded sound system reduces the available trunk space by 1.4 cu-ft due to the addition of a subwoofer under the floor.

However, which one should we opt for? Let’s take a look at our options:
– 2025 Taycan 4 Cross Turismo – with a maximum of 429 horsepower, going from zero to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds, priced at $113,095 MSRP.
– 2025 Taycan 4S Cross Turismo – with a maximum of 509 horsepower, going from zero to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds, priced at $127,195 MSRP.
– 2025 Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo – with a maximum of 697 horsepower, going from zero to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds, priced at $178,295 MSRP.
– 2025 Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo – with a maximum of 764 horsepower, going from zero to 60 mph in 2.4 seconds, priced at $213,695 MSRP.
The perfect choice for our next electric vehicle would be the 4S Cross Turismo. It possesses ample power, impressive speed, and comes at a price that is not significantly higher than the base model. However, the Turbo version offers more features, greater speed, and may provide long-term satisfaction. Just imagine the joy of picking up your child from school in a car named “Turbo.” It would undoubtedly bring a sense of delight.
Unfortunately, the $51,100 price difference is too much to bear in the current economic climate. A different emblem and a few additional features won’t persuade us to spend the same amount of money as the Model Y Performance or a used Audi e-tron GT, just for a slight improvement in the Taycan Cross Turismo. We can certainly live with 188 horsepower less and a zero to 60 mph time of 3.6 seconds.
The ideal choice for the 2025 Porsche Taycan 4S Cross Turismo is commendable. The German automaker offers potential buyers a selection of 15 colors, which go beyond the usual shades of white and black. Colors such as Provence (which evokes the lavender fields of France), Carmine Red, and Shade Green Metallic are particularly intriguing. However, our personal preference is Frozen Blue Metallic, as it perfectly embodies the spirit of this electric vehicle and gives it a dreamy appearance.
Of course, for those with no budget constraints, there is always the option to customize the paint for an additional $30,020. However, we have opted for a more practical approach and will not consider this extravagant choice.

Initially, we considered selecting the 21-inch wheels painted in the same color as the exterior. However, this would have cost an additional $6,260 and potentially affected the ride quality. Therefore, we have decided to go with the 20-inch sport aero wheels. They are a new addition, and we hope that not many people will choose them.
At present, our Taycan 4S Cross Turismo is a four-seater. This is why the 14-way adjustable Race-Tex Comfort seats with Pepita seat centers make perfect sense. The grayish interior and the arctic white seatbelts blend seamlessly with the exterior color, creating a feeling that our electric vehicle is the ideal choice for a zero-emission polar expedition. Fortunately, Porsche has successfully incorporated ventilation and massaging functions into this upholstery option. Additionally, we have selected the option for heated rear seats.
To fully enjoy the increased practicality, we have chosen the off-road design package with inlays in Vesuvius Grey. This enhances the beautiful contrast between the cabin and the exterior. Continuing in the same direction, we have also added the window trim in High Gloss Black.
The upgraded Taycan features Porsche’s latest suspension system known as Active Ride. This innovation was first introduced in the new Panamera. The cost of the four hydraulic motor pump setup is $7,140, but it can only be obtained if the Torque Vectoring Plus system is also selected, bringing the total price to $8,640. This advanced suspension system aims to improve the stability and comfort of the electric vehicle.
In terms of customization choices, we decided against the expensive upgrade since we did not opt for the Turbo or Turbo S models. Instead, we focused on enhancing maneuverability by selecting the rear-axle steering. Additionally, we chose the Sport Chrono Pack, which includes a “push to pass” feature that temporarily unlocks 81 hp for overtaking. This boosts the total power output to 590 hp and 523 lb-ft of torque for approximately 10 seconds, but only when the charging level is above 30%.
Despite our initial intention to limit additional expenses, we couldn’t resist adding some aesthetic and comfort features. We opted for the HD Matrix LED headlights and taillights with glacier blue accents to complement the chosen exterior color. Furthermore, we included thermally- and noise-insulated glass to enhance comfort.
Moving on to the interior, we decided against other cabin upgrades such as the electrochromic panoramic roof and personalized custom door sills. However, we did choose to install a 360-degree camera system, which is somewhat surprising considering its price of $127,195. Additionally, we opted for the InnoDrive suite, providing adaptive cruise control and active lane-keep assist.
Porsche also introduced a separate dashboard screen for the front passenger, but we decided against this $1,490 option. Instead, we preferred to utilize that space for artistic purposes or potentially attach an Apple Vision Pro headset or tablet. Watching Netflix or random YouTube videos while driving did not seem like a practical use of resources.
While the Burmester 3D sound system is highly regarded by audiophiles, we could not justify the $7,000 expense. Instead, we opted for the $1,200 Bose Surround Sound system, which still provides excellent audio quality.
In conclusion, our fully equipped EV, equipped with a 105-kWh gross (97-kWh usable) high-voltage energy storage unit, had a pre-tax and fee price of $155,955, including $28,760 in optional features. It is important to note that this final price may appear substantial to potential customers. For comparison, the same amount of money could purchase three Tesla Model 3 Long Range vehicles, including taxes. Additionally, the Tesla sedan qualifies for the full EV tax credit, resulting in a discount of $22,500 for eligible buyers.

We customized the same Taycan for the British market, and the outcome was £123,147 ($155,502) including the value-added tax. That’s quite similar to the price in the US before taxes. However, customers across the pond do not receive a complimentary one-year access to 30-minute charging sessions with Electrify America.
Luckily for Porsche, its customers are accustomed to encountering such steep prices. In addition to that, the Taycan Cross Turismo presents a unique proposition. No other car manufacturer offers an elevated all-electric wagon that possesses the ability to accelerate, charge, and provide a sensation of speed. It is important to note that it also exudes true luxury.
But is this electric vehicle worth the investment? Well, that is a decision for you to make. If you were to ask me about purchasing it, I would respond with a “yes,” but with one condition – I must have $1.5 million in my bank account prior to signing the buyer’s agreement.
Lastly, the depreciation of this vehicle is unforgiving, and even the refreshed Cross Turismo version of the Taycan is not immune to it.
