All the thrilling progress made by Tiger Woods’ performance on Thursday at the Genesis Invitational has been completely erased. Despite a wayward shot to the right on the 18th hole on Thursday, Woods managed to complete the round without any apparent harm. However, on Friday, he officially withdrew from the tournament after completing just seven holes. Initially, it was reported that the 48-year-old had pulled out due to back spasms, but that information was quickly corrected. Woods apparently fell ill and had to be transported back to the clubhouse. An ambulance and fire truck were seen outside the clubhouse, although it remains unclear if they were called for Woods or someone else. According to witnesses, the ambulance left without anyone inside. Barstool’s Dan Rapaport also stated that Woods experienced flu-like symptoms, dizziness, fever, and dehydration. Fortunately, the illness doesn’t appear to be too severe, but it is still disappointing for both the tour and golf enthusiasts that he won’t be able to finish the weekend at Riviera. The positive aspect is that he is said to be physically fine, which hopefully means he won’t face any future tournament absences due to back problems. It’s a case of taking two steps forward and one step back.
