Toyota, known for its conventional models, sometimes surprises with unconventional choices. This time, they have taken the high-riding Crown sedan and transformed it into a four-door convertible. Using a 3D printer, Toyota engineers created new body components to achieve this unique design. The result is a stylish cabin with five seats in white leather, although the lack of a retractable roof means it must be stored in a garage to protect it from the elements. While there is no information on any upgrades to the powertrain, the suspension has likely been reworked to accommodate the additional weight. Although this convertible model may be appealing, it is not currently part of Toyota’s production lineup and is unlikely to be available in dealerships anytime soon. However, Toyota has shown interest in the convertible concept, as evidenced by the recent introduction of the Century convertible SUV at the Grand Sumo Tournament in Japan.
However, the officials from the Sumo Association rejected the proposal and insisted on acquiring the convertible Century. It is highly probable that Toyota intended to provide the sumo wrestlers with this open-roof, elevated sedan.
