The current lineup of Tigers from Triumph, known as the Tiger 1200 range, has received a significant update for the 2024 model year. Introduced just three years ago, this family of motorcycles has been revamped to make them more appealing to riders.
The Tiger 1200 range now consists of four different models, each designed to cater to specific rider needs. There are two road-focused models, the Tiger 1200 GT Pro and Explorer, which differ in fuel tank capacity by 2.6 gallons (10 liters). Additionally, there are two Tiger 1200 Rally variants, specifically built for all-terrain riding.
All versions of the Tiger 1200 are equipped with a 1,160cc triple engine that has undergone various modifications. The powerplant’s crankshaft, alternator rotor, and balancer have been upgraded, resulting in improved low rev torque delivery. With these enhancements, the engine now produces 148 horsepower and 130 Nm of torque.
The clutch design has also been improved, allowing for smoother engagement, particularly when shifting into first gear. Triumph has also made the clutch lever longer to enhance ease of use for riders.
One notable feature added to all four Tigers is Active Preload Reduction. This system automatically reduces the rear suspension preload when the motorcycles come to a stop, lowering the seat height by up to 20 mm. Riders can control this function by simply pressing a button.
For the GT models, Triumph has increased the cornering ground clearance, although specific details have not been provided. The GTs also receive the same dampened handlebars and risers found on the Explorer models.
In terms of aesthetics, all four Tigers now come in new color options. The GTs are available in Carnival Red, Snowdonia White, and Sapphire Black, while the Rally versions sport Matt Sandstorm, Jet Black, or Matt Khaki finishes.
The wheel options have also been updated. The GT models now feature cast aluminum wheels with a 19-inch front and 18-inch rear, while the Rally models come with tubeless spoked wheels, with a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear.
Triumph has announced that the revised Tiger 1200 range will be available in April 2024. In the UK market, the pricing for these motorcycles starts at £17,295, which is approximately $21,820 based on current exchange rates.
