According to reports, there may be a chance for the Turkish Grand Prix to return to the Formula 1 calendar in 2026. The Istanbul Park circuit, which made its F1 debut in 2005 and held races until 2011, could see a reprisal of the event. The current leaseholders, Intercity, will not be extending their lease beyond this year, prompting a tender process by the Turkish Motor Sports Federation to find new leaseholders for the next 30 years. The winning party, expected to be announced in April, will then have a month to secure a spot on the 2026 F1 calendar. If they fail to do so, they will lose their lease and face a financial penalty. The new leaseholders will also be required to modernize the circuit. Istanbul will be competing for a slot on the 2026 calendar with other circuits whose contracts expire in 2025, such as Spa-Francorchamps, Monaco, Monza, Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, Imola, Zandvoort, Shanghai, and potentially Las Vegas.
