60% of Tyler Reddick’s victories in NASCAR Cup races have occurred on Road Courses. Reddick, who is part of the 23XI Racing team, is widely regarded as one of the top Road Course racers in the NASCAR Cup Series. Out of his five Cup race wins, three have come from road course events, and his first two victories were on similar tracks. This Sunday, Reddick will be competing in his first Road Course race of the 2024 season at COTA.
Before the race weekend, Reddick sat down with a former NASCAR Cup champion in a podcast called “happy hour.” During the interview, Reddick discussed how a driver from Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) played a significant role in his development as a Road Course racer. He recalled an incident from the 2020 ROVAL race where his late braking caused a race-ending collision with Kevin Harvick while they were both racing at P30. This experience motivated Reddick to never find himself in such a position again.
As Reddick prepares for the upcoming race at COTA, he will be relying on his skills and previous success at the track. In the 2023 season, he secured a victory for the 23XI team at the same venue. However, he will face tough competition from his Toyota teammate, who has been performing exceptionally well this season and is determined to secure a win.
Notably, the 23XI Racing team will be introducing a third car at COTA, driven by a former Formula 1 driver and Sports Car racing legend. This driver, who currently races for Toyota in the WRC, has impressed Reddick with his Road Course skills and ability to quickly adapt to the Next-Gen car. This will be the second Cup race for the driver in NASCAR, following his debut at Indy last year. Although the driver faced challenges due to the aggressive racing style at Brickyard, he is now better prepared to handle them.
