The NBA All-Star game is making its way to Indianapolis this weekend, and when it comes to making an entrance, Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton definitely knows how to make a statement. Instead of arriving in a typical luxury car, Haliburton decided to take it up a notch and rolled into the Tip-Off Party in an IndyCar with only two seats. No matter how extravagant your arrival may be, it’s safe to say that it wouldn’t be as impressive as Haliburton’s choice of transportation.
Representing the host team, Haliburton felt the need to showcase the best of Indianapolis. The city is going all out to ensure that this year’s NBA All-Star event is a memorable one, even though it may not receive the same level of enthusiasm as the slam dunk competition. From the moment you step off the plane, you are greeted with a basketball court, creating a unique and exciting atmosphere. And let’s not forget about the tantalizing aroma of nearby Chick-fil-A, making the experience even more enjoyable.
Interestingly enough, this seems to be the norm at the Indianapolis Airport. When I visited a few years ago for the Indianapolis 500, the first thing that caught my eye in the terminal (besides the enticing ad for the Kurt Vonnegut Museum) was an IndyCar. Perhaps my perception of airports is slightly skewed since I am used to the peculiarities of Orlando International, where they actually have to inspect people’s lightsabers at security. However, there is no denying that the Indianapolis Airport and the city itself are exceptional hosts.
The NBA All-Star Weekend will kick off with the celebrity game on Friday, followed by the skills competition on Saturday, and culminating with the highly anticipated game on Sunday.
