ANAHEIM, California – Ilia Topuria is unconvinced that Movsar Evloev is the right opponent for his first title defense. Topuria, who remains undefeated with a 15-0 record in MMA and a 7-0 record in the UFC, claimed the featherweight title in the main event of UFC 298 at Honda Center by knocking out Alexander Volkanovski. After the fight, Evloev, who recently defeated Arnold Allen, called out Topuria, expressing his intention to take the belt from him. While Topuria does not completely disregard Evloev as a challenger, he is not impressed with his resume. Although Evloev is also undefeated with an 18-0 record in MMA and an 8-0 record in the UFC, all of his victories in the octagon have been by decision. Topuria believes that Evloev needs to finish someone in order to prove himself as a worthy opponent. Prior to his fight with Volkanovski, Topuria dismissed Max Holloway, Yair Rodriguez, and Brian Ortega as potential challengers for his title. He remains focused on finding new challengers and is excited for upcoming fights to see who will step up to face him. Topuria confidently declares that he will be a dominant force in the division for the foreseeable future.
