UFC fighter Ian Garry is prepared to confront the entire MAGA movement. However, he will first have to face off against outspoken Trump supporter Colby Covington, a challenge that Garry believes he can easily overcome.
During an interview on Ariel Helwani’s The MMA Hour, Garry, in an excessively exaggerated manner, began passionately discussing how he would defeat Covington, who is backed by the MAGA movement, if they were to ever compete in the octagon.
He then attempted to grab attention by mentioning Trump’s name.
“If Trump is present, I will bring Colby in front of him and defeat him soundly. I will demonstrate, ‘This is what you have created! Boom! This is MAGA – Boom! And it will exist no more,'” exclaimed the 26-year-old Irishman, while also displaying excessive enthusiasm akin to a heavily intoxicated friend after consuming a case of Truly Seltzers.
Desperate for recognition, Garry proceeded to imitate Conor McGregor by calling out Colby. However, as the current generation would say, his attempt fell flat. At one point, even Helwani audibly chuckled, recognizing Garry’s lack of credibility.
“I will silence Colby Covington. I will strike him with such force that he will never speak again,” continued the aspiring fighter, just days after challenging Covington following his narrow victory over Geoff Neal at UFC 298. (Considering Garry’s close win against Neal, it is unlikely that he would defeat Colby.)
Hey Ian – are we really resorting to using Donald Trump’s name as a talking point and an excuse in a desperate attempt to remain relevant? Who do you think you are – Joe Biden?
I guarantee that after watching both Ian Garry videos above, you, as the reader, will find yourself rooting for Colby Covington. It is cringe-worthy to the extreme. Garry comes across as an arrogant, high school troublemaker that even Catholic nuns would abandon their commitment to kindness just to cheer for his defeat. In fact, you don’t even have to be a Trump supporter to root against Garry.
So far, Colby has not responded to Garry’s challenge. While he was once an overwhelmingly dominant fighter in the cage, Colby’s recent performances have been lackluster, with only 2 victories in his last 4 fights.
However, if there’s one thing we know about Colby, it’s that he is always ready for a fight and a good old-fashioned beatdown. Who knows, perhaps he will even name one of his submission moves the MAG-Attack, as a tribute to the former President and his loyal supporters.
