Tyson Fury has had a successful career in the world of professional boxing thus far. His upcoming heavyweight clash with an opponent, which was highly anticipated, has faced various obstacles. Initially scheduled for December 23, 2023, the fight was postponed due to Fury’s bout with Francis Ngannou and the need for his recovery. The fight was then rescheduled for February 17 but was once again delayed after Fury suffered an injury. As a result of a cut above his eye during a sparring session, the fight had to be moved to May 18. Some individuals, including Usyk’s promoter, even suggested that Fury should retire, especially considering his performance against Ngannou. However, Fury dismissed these claims and expressed his intention to continue fighting. He revealed that he has five fights lined up, two of which are against Usyk. Fury also plans to face Anthony Joshua at least once and would be open to a rematch if he defeats him. Additionally, Fury announced that he will have a rematch with Ngannou. With his next five fights planned out, Fury has no intention of retiring anytime soon. Despite being 35 years old, he believes he is in his prime. Prior to the clash, Fury was training in Saudi Arabia when he suffered a severe cut above his right eye during a sparring session. A video capturing the moment he was struck was shared online, leading to speculation that he was hit by an elbow. However, the person responsible for the cut stated that it was a punch, not an elbow. Agron Smakici, who trained with both Fury and Joshua, confirmed in an interview that the blow was unintentional and expressed remorse for the incident. He emphasized that the cut was caused by a punch, not his elbow, as he felt the punch connect with Fury’s head before his elbow made contact with Fury’s eye.
