Like all models by Baluchon, La Boheme is a compact home measuring no more than six meters (19.6 feet). Although designed for one person, its interior is surprisingly spacious and not just in terms of accommodating overnight guests. The clever design includes a large dining area and a separate lounge that is partially partitioned from the kitchen/dining area.
La Boheme is designed for entertaining. The lounge features a wall displaying a selection of wine bottles, reminiscent of French style. A comfortable and luxurious sofa encourages socializing, while the impressive dining table with four seats serves as the focal point of this entertainment area. Whether it’s a summer BBQ, a birthday celebration, or a simple family dinner, the lounge/dining section is welcoming and cozy. It’s hard to believe that it is part of a mobile home under 20 feet.
To create such a magnificent dining space, some of the traditional kitchen space had to be sacrificed. However, La Boheme’s kitchen is still charming and practical. It exudes the warmth and familiarity of a cozy, traditional kitchen. The rustic-style furniture seamlessly integrates premium appliances, with large cabinets providing ample storage space. The absence of overhead cupboards allows for the addition of two large windows, flooding the kitchen with natural light. A tall and slim cabinet maximizes vertical space, while rustic shelves serve as both storage and decorative elements.
The color palette of this home is unexpected. While most homes from the French brand Baluchon feature a natural wood design with subtle pops of color, La Boheme takes a bolder approach. Vibrant black-and-white accents add depth and visual interest to the natural base. Baluchon tiny homes are far from minimalistic, and La Boheme’s design exudes a dramatic vibrancy that elevates it from being plain and simplistic.
One of the standout features of La Boheme is the partial glass wall with black framing, which separates the lounge from the dining/kitchen area. Unlike other tiny homes of similar size, which typically opt for an open-plan layout to create an illusion of spaciousness, La Boheme takes a bold approach. The transparency of the glass wall simultaneously separates and connects the spaces. The black structure of the glass wall extends vertically to the roof, creating a powerful architectural effect. It also complements the oversized windows in the living room, which also feature black frames.

These windows feature a large, expansive window to the side and a tall one on the end wall. The breathtaking panoramic window is another one of La Boheme’s distinctive features. It is the perfect addition to a lounge, as it fills the space with natural light and offers magnificent views of the surroundings.
A couple of shelves positioned above the sofa provide discreet storage while maintaining a balance between horizontal and vertical elements. Speaking of storage, this elegant French home also includes a charming corner bookcase. Situated facing the kitchen, its placement in the corner ensures it does not obstruct the space. Moreover, this versatile bookcase could easily serve as an open-shelf pantry or a cabinet for various items.
Instead of the more common sliding pocket doors, a classic door leads to the bathroom. Baluchon-designed bathrooms typically have a rustic touch, with walls made of natural wood and an eco-friendly toilet. The bathroom maintains a cohesive style with the other rooms through the use of black-framed windows and small wooden shelves, enhancing its simple design.

To accommodate this impressive layout within a small floor space, the staircase had to be omitted. Instead, a basic ladder is used to access the loft bedroom. When not in use, the ladder can be stored away, taking up no space at all.
The bedroom is spacious enough for a double bed, and combined with the convertible sofa downstairs, La Boheme can comfortably sleep at least four people. Horizontal windows on each side ensure proper ventilation and stunning views. Additionally, a custom-made cabinet with a striking combination of white, black, and natural wood acts as a partial protection wall.
This 2017 design by Baluchon combines sophisticated and clever interior design with an equally charming exterior. On the outside, La Boheme captivates with its beautiful green roof and traditional architecture. The stunning panoramic window creates an instant sense of warmth and openness. The final touch? An adorable miniature porch and a green door that leads into the kitchen. With its unique and carefully selected details, this French tiny home exemplifies the essence of downsizing at its finest.
