The Dores are ready to hit the court once again. Specifically, the women’s tennis team of Vanderbilt University will be facing Northwestern at their home court on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at 11:00 am.
Looking ahead, Vanderbilt will have a weekend off and will resume play on February 25 with a doubleheader at Montgomery Bell Academy against Austin Peay and Tennessee State.
Sunday’s game will be the annual Pride celebration, featuring a Pastries and Pronouns event starting at 10 a.m. The Pride giveaway items and events are sponsored by Athletes Ally and K.C. House Potter.
In their previous match against Memphis on Saturday, Vanderbilt emerged victorious with a convincing 4-0 win. With a record of 2-2, the Dores are aiming for their third consecutive win in Sunday’s matchup.
Northwestern currently holds an overall record of 4-2, having suffered a loss to No. 23 Georgia Tech in their previous road game, which ended with a 4-3 victory for the Yellow Jackets.
According to the latest ITA rankings, four Vanderbilt players were recognized as among the best in the country last week. Célia-Belle Mohr holds the 16th spot in singles, followed by Bridget Stammel at no. 23, Valeria Ray at no. 110, and Anessa Lee at no. 119. Mohr and Lee are also ranked in doubles at no. 23.
The matches on Wednesday will take place at the Brownlee O. Currey Jr. Tennis Pavilion at the Lummis Family Tennis Center, and admission is free. Free parking is available at the 25th Avenue garage through the Highland Avenue entrance. Spectators can park in any non-reserved space on floors 9 to 11 up to one hour before matches starting before 5pm on weekdays. For evening and weekend games, spectators can park in any non-reserved space using the Highland Avenue entrance. Vanderbilt tennis matches will enforce a clear bag policy.
