A new season of the Valorant Champions Tour has begun, bringing excitement to teams around the world. These teams are vying for a chance to qualify for the first VCT Masters event in Madrid. However, before they can do that, they must compete in the challengers league specific to their regions, such as VCT Pacific, VCT Americas, VCT China, and more.
Riot Games has introduced four franchised leagues in 2024, which means each region will only have two slots available for the upcoming VCT Masters in Madrid. As a result, the eleven teams in VCT Americas 2024 are giving their all to secure a spot for themselves in Madrid.
The Group B elimination match for VCT Americas 2024 was between Sentinels and 100 Thieves. These two teams have a complex history, having faced each other multiple times in the past. As two of the top teams in the region, there is always something to prove when they go head-to-head.
Sentinels had a challenging year last year, prompting them to make some changes to their roster. The addition of Johnqt and Zellsis to the team already led to a victory in an off-season event.
On the other hand, 100 Thieves has struggled to maintain consistency in the past few VCT seasons. The team has also brought in new members, Boostio and Eeiu, to their roster.
Although 100 Thieves managed to earn a point in the best-of-three series against Leviatán, they fell short by a small margin. The Sentinels vs 100 Thieves matchup in VCT Americas 2024 slightly favored TenZ’s team due to their higher consistency and more experienced players. Unlike the BLEED vs Global eSports matchup in VCT Pacific 2024, there were no surprises in this match.
Sentinels emerged victorious over 100 Thieves in a 2-1 series. They dominated on the Lotus map with a score of 13-5. Despite a 13-6 victory by 100 Thieves on Bind, Sentinels were able to turn the tide and secure a 13-8 victory on Split, closing out the series. This result officially eliminates 100 Thieves from the race to VCT Masters Madrid, while Sentinels continue their journey to secure a slot.
