In the latest edition of the FIA Formula 2 Championship, a shocking turn of events occurred during the Sprint Race in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The tabloid format race saw Trident’s Richard Verschoor and Roman Stanek face disqualification due to a technical breach. According to F2’s report, both cars were found to have an incorrect throttle pedal progressivity map installed, which violated Article 8.2.6 of the Technical Regulations. As a result, Verschoor’s victory was taken away, and the new winners emerged. Dennis Hauger from MP Motorsport claimed first place, followed by Hitech’s Paul Aron. Enzo Fittipaldi from Van Amersfoort Racing secured a podium finish in third place, while Zane Maloney’s impressive drive from 15th on the grid landed him in fourth place. The points-paying positions were completed by DAMS Jak Crawford, Prema’s Andrea Antonelli, Campos Racing’s Josep Maria Martí, and Invicta’s Kush Maini, who finished in eighth place. Stanek’s disqualification cost him his tenth spot, allowing McLaren Development Driver Gabriel Bortoleto to enter the new top-10. With the amended results, Maloney now leads the Drivers’ standings with 41 points, followed by Aron with 28 points. Martí sits in third place with 26 points, while Hauger, the new race winner, takes fourth place with 16 points. Verschoor and Stanek are left with zero points on the board.
