The Australia versus West Indies matches were incredibly entertaining, with all three T20Is being high-scoring contests. In the third T20I at the Optus Stadium in Perth on Tuesday (February 13), a spectator made a remarkable one-handed catch while holding a glass of beer in his other hand.
The incident occurred during the 16th over of the West Indies innings. Sherfane Rutherford was at the crease and he played an impressive pull shot off Spencer Johnson’s short delivery, sending the ball over the boundary rope.
A spectator in the stands was prepared to catch the ball, stretching both of his arms. However, another man in the row ahead surprised him by stretching his right arm and completing the catch with one hand. Remarkably, he managed to hold onto the catch without spilling a single drop of his beer, much to the delight of the other spectators. The video of the catch quickly gained popularity after Cricket Australia shared it on their social media platform.
After winning the first two T20Is against West Indies, Australia were aiming for a clean sweep but were thwarted by the visitors. West Indies skipper Rovman Powell won the toss and chose to bat first.
Andre Russell played an outstanding innings, scoring 71 runs from just 29 balls at a strike rate of 244.83. Sherfane Rutherford also contributed with 67 runs from 40 balls, helping West Indies reach a total of 220/6.
In response, David Warner played aggressively, smashing 81 runs from 49 balls. However, he did not receive much support from the other batsmen, who were dismissed for low scores. Despite a late unbeaten 41 from Tim David, Australia could only manage to score 183 runs in their allotted 20 overs, losing the match by 37 runs.
