In the recent India vs England Test match, a video of Rohit Sharma scolding his teammates went viral, causing quite a stir among fans. Sharma was seen using strong language to urge the fielders to stay alert. Another video captured him yelling at his teammates, expressing his frustration at losing his voice from continuously shouting at them. This incident took place on Day 4 of the second Test at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on February 6.
Despite the amusement this stump-mic rant brought to fans, it also garnered criticism for Sharma’s abusive behavior towards his teammates. Some fans argued that as a public figure and the captain of the Indian Test team, Sharma should exercise better control over his emotions.
England’s performance in India was expected to be challenging due to the spinning pitches. However, they surprised everyone with their impressive batting, winning the first Test by 28 runs. Despite India’s lackluster batting performance, except for Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill, they emerged victorious thanks to the exceptional bowling skills of Jasprit Bumrah. Jaiswal scored his first double-century in the first innings, while Gill secured his third Test century in the second innings. Bumrah’s six-wicket haul played a crucial role in bowling out England for 253 runs in the first innings, after India had scored 396. In the second innings, India dismissed England for 292, setting them a target of 399. Rohit Sharma expressed his pride in the young squad that contributed to the team’s victory against a formidable England side.
The third Test is scheduled to take place in Rajkot starting from February 15. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not yet announced the squad for the upcoming match.
