Late fireworks from Bumrah propelled India to a total of 455 in the opening innings on Friday (February 16) at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot. In just 28 balls, the top-ranked bowler in the world accumulated 26 runs, including three boundaries and a six.
India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, wore a broad smile as he witnessed Bumrah’s impressive display with the bat. He engaged in an animated conversation with Shubman Gill in the team’s dressing room, and the video of their interaction has since become viral.

Gill partnered with Sharma at the beginning of the innings, but his stint was cut short after facing just nine balls, as Mark Wood dismissed him for a duck. This marked Gill’s second failure in the series.
Bumrah fell victim to Wood’s lbw delivery, bringing India’s innings to a close at 455. The standout performers in the first innings were captain Sharma, who scored 131 runs from 196 deliveries, Ravindra Jadeja, who contributed 112 runs from 225 balls, and debutants Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel, who scored 62 and 46 runs respectively.
