Ladies and gentlemen, you may be familiar with the name Patriot Campers, as they are one of the few Australian teams that design, produce, and sell Australian-made RVs and campers globally. They have recently expanded their reach to the United States, supplying their incredibly capable campers. If you ever find yourself in Vegas, give them a call.
However, this time, I would like to shift the focus away from their campers and shed light on another aspect of their outdoor products: their toy haulers. It is important to note that these haulers have a unique appeal in Australia, so expect something different. In this article, we will be exploring the TH730, the largest of their three offerings.
When I first laid eyes on this behemoth, I couldn’t help but think that it resembled a tank! Seriously, this thing is on a whole other level compared to your typical toy hauler. In the past, we used a simple trailer with tie-downs and removable ramps to transport our ATVs and bikes to the desert. While the TH730 still utilizes tie-downs for securing your vehicles, the rest of the unit is a true monster.
To provide a better understanding, let’s start from the ground up. The TH730 boasts an impressive off-road suspension system. Each wheel is equipped with a dual-shock suspension A-arm setup, offering independent control. Additionally, double convoluted airbags enhance the overall control and even provide self-leveling capabilities. It’s a dream come true for any off-road enthusiast!
But the excitement doesn’t end there. The TH730 measures 23 ft in length, with 10 ft dedicated to the actual deck where you can load your toys. The remaining space is reserved for a spacious camper-like unit, complete with storage compartments, awnings, roof racks, and various systems designed to ensure your comfort and safety, whether it’s for a day trip or an extended adventure.
Let’s start by highlighting the impressive storage capacity of over 2,400 liters (634 gals) in this section of the TH. All storage compartments are equipped with anti-vibration latches, ensuring a dust-free environment. You’ll find side storage, side drawers, rooftop storage, and fully carpeted compartments, providing ample space for all your gear.
Now, let’s dive into the rest of the TH730’s features. The camper section is filled with essential amenities for living in the great outdoors. It includes two 150 Ah batteries, an inverter, BMS, 115 liters (30 gals) of water storage, two gas bottle holders, and even a gas heater that provides hot running water. It’s hard to believe that this is a toy hauler, but as I mentioned before, it offers so much more. The inclusion of solar panels from RedArc’s Sun Power lineup adds to the magic of this unit.
Now, as you’re out there frolicking and the sun shining on you, you’re bound to get exhausted, so to rejuvenate your soul and spirit with the meals you need, Patriot also includes a detachable BBQ and a refrigerator with ice-maker into your experience.
There’s just one piece of equipment missing from this contraption, or is there? I’m referring to adding a rooftop tent onto this “toy hauler.” Well, you can, and even Patriot offers three options to choose from, so yeah, to call the TH730 just a toy hauler is clearly an understatement.
Come to think of it, even Patriot doesn’t consider the TH730 as just a toy hauler. As I explored this extraordinary machine, I found a video, the one posted below, and in it, the words “base camp toy hauling solution” are heard. Those are the exact words I’ve been searching for since the beginning of this article. Just kidding; all this is premeditated, just like the TH730.
As for what your life may be like with one of these vehicles, take a moment out of your busy day to do just that; imagine yourself in possession of this machine, and come Saturday morning, before the sun even rises, you’re checking off the last of the list, and soon, you’re in your 4×4 with a TH730 behind you, carrying your quads and dirt bikes.
Once you’ve reached your destination, it’s time to unload your belongings, stabilize your unit, and before long, you’ve got a grill going, the music is playing loudly, and the group is filling the local landscape with laughter. Heck, you even have a bed waiting for you in case you have a bit too much to drink. Sounds like an amazing way to spend the weekend and summers.
According to the manufacturer’s website, to do that, you’ll need to pay at least $76,200 (€71K at current exchange rates) American for one of these vehicles. So, it’s a bit higher than what the average person might consider paying for something like this, but think about what you’re really getting, and then ask yourself that question again. I’m not saying there aren’t any cheaper options and brands out there, but when was the last time you saw something like this? Feel free to comment.
