Kevin Nolan recently took umbrage with something BBC presenter Aaron Paul said live on air regarding West Ham.
During 5 Live’s The Friday Football Special, Paul mentioned Aston Villa, Tottenham, Wolves, and Newcastle United as teams capable of toppling the top-three clubs.
West Ham coach Kevin Nolan swiftly interjected, questioning why West Ham United were not acknowledged, which prompted laughter from fellow guests Nigel Reo-Coker and Fara Williams.
“We’re superior to all of them except Aston Villa at the moment,” Nolan stated.
Given West Ham’s recent dip in form over the past month or so, it’s understandable for outsiders to dismiss them. The Irons have gone six games without a victory in all competitions in 2024, including an FA Cup elimination to second-tier opposition during that period.
Despite only amassing three points from the last 12 available, West Ham United still occupy a respectable seventh position in the Premier League standings.
Nolan was indeed accurate in including West Ham on that list of capable teams. However, for his side to remain in the running as serious European contenders, they must enhance their results soon.
The Hammers have indeed achieved triumphs against the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, and Tottenham this season, demonstrating their ability to overcome top sides. Therefore, Nolan was justified in including West Ham on that list.
