Just hours before UTS Oslo begins, the father and coach of Casper Ruud shared his immense pride in his son’s achievements. Casper, who emerged victorious in the UTS tournament last year, has had a significant impact on young tennis players in Norway. Christian Ruud, a former top-50 player himself, has played a crucial role in training his son to excel in the sport. Under his guidance, the 25-year-old has secured 10 ATP titles and finished as a runner-up in three Tour events. Despite his third-round exit at the 2024 Australian Open, Casper Ruud currently holds the 12th position in the world rankings.
For those unfamiliar with the UTS tournament, it is the largest tennis event ever held in Norway and one of the most prominent in Scandinavia. The competition attracts top European players. Christian Ruud, in an interview with Tennis Major, expressed his joy in witnessing Casper grow into the player he had envisioned during his own playing days.
