11-year-old sports journalist Jeremiah Fennell has made a significant impact on the NFL scene ahead of the Super Bowl. Fennell, who gained recognition after conducting interviews with NFL stars like Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes during Monday’s Super Bowl opening night, has received widespread praise for his professionalism.
The talented youngster from Las Vegas first gained attention in 2021 when he interviewed wide receiver Devante Adams, a video that was shared on the Las Vegas Raiders Twitter page. But what led up to this moment?
At the age of 4, Fennell was informed that he couldn’t participate in contact sports due to a brain defect and a detached shoulder bone.
During an appearance on the Jennifer Hudson show, Fennell explained, “It all began when I was 4 years old. My parents told me that I might not be able to play contact sports because of my brain defect and detached shoulder bone.”
He went on to share that, after reaching a compromise with his parents, he played basketball, football, and t-ball for a year before focusing on his passion for journalism and broadcasting.
Fennell continued, “I asked my mom if I could create my own YouTube channel where I could provide commentary on the Raiders, but she declined because they were in California at the time.”
However, once the family returned to Las Vegas, Fennell’s mother gave him permission to start his own YouTube channel, and the rest is history.
During an appearance on the Jennifer Hudson show, Fennell opened up about his parents, saying, “That’s where it all began, but what truly motivates me is wanting to make my parents proud at a young age, especially considering my mom’s health issues and my dad being a senior citizen.”
He added, “Most kids think their parents will be around forever, throughout their childhood, but when I was 5 years old, my mom nearly died.”
This experience has inspired Fennell to strive to be the best son he can be.
As Fennell hinted previously, his father, Leroy Fennell, prefers to stay out of the spotlight and is a senior citizen. On the other hand, his mother, Lorraine Golden, fully supports her son’s passion and now manages his social media accounts, promoting his NFL media work.
