Williams has unveiled its 2024 Formula 1 vehicle during a test run in Bahrain before the start of pre-season testing at the same circuit. This marks the first public release of images of the FW46, making it the final car to be revealed by all 10 teams for the 2024 season. Williams had previously held a ‘season launch’ event in February, but it only showcased a revised livery for the upcoming season, not the actual car. Team principal James Vowles admitted that the FW46 is running behind schedule due to significant changes in the team’s approach to designing and developing the car. These changes were necessary to modernize their technology and improve performance, but they also came with a high level of risk. Williams had a successful 2023 F1 campaign, scoring 28 points and finishing seventh in the constructors’ championship. However, their previous car, the FW45, had limitations in certain types of corners, which they hope to address with the new FW46. The team has retained drivers Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant for the 2024 season.
