As the NBA All-Star weekend approaches, fans and players alike are preparing to indulge in one of the most significant basketball events of the year. The matchup that fans are eagerly anticipating is the 3-point contest featuring the Warriors’ Curry and the Liberty’s Ionescu. Both players hold records in their respective NBA and WNBA 3-point All-Star contests.
Phoenix Suns’ Curry’s former teammate, was recently asked about his pick for the contest. Durant promptly chose Curry. However, when Curry was asked to speculate on Durant’s choice, he jokingly referred to him as an ‘Instigator’ and claimed that Durant would have chosen Ionescu.
Following Curry’s comment, Durant switched his pick to Ionescu for the win. However, he later stated that he was going back to Steph, saying, “I’m going Steph. I said Steph first… He called me an instigator, so I went with Sabrina, but I’ll go back to Steph… You know how I like to switch.” Kevin Durant makes his pick for Steph Curry and Sabrina Ionescu’s three-point showdown 😂 (via @NBA)pic.twitter.com/BdkBjReCfE
KD has often faced criticism from fans for switching teams too frequently. After winning two championships with the Warriors, he left the team. Here, KD took the opportunity to humorously roast himself.
The game between the Warriors and Suns was undoubtedly thrilling. However, the main topic of conversation was Steph Curry’s last-second clutch three-pointer, which ultimately decided the game and led to the Warriors’ victory.
In a post-game interview, Kevin Durant was asked for his thoughts on Curry’s game-winning shot. He responded with high praise for Curry, calling him the greatest in his position and one of the top 5 players to ever grace the game. Despite the loss, Durant showed no disrespect towards Curry.
Durant and Curry were teammates for nearly four years and even won two championships together. Despite no longer being on the same team, it appears that Durant still holds respect and admiration for Curry’s skills.
