On Sunday, the San Francisco 49ers, led by their second-year quarterback, are facing the Kansas City Chiefs, who are being guided by their head coach, in their Super Bowl contest in Las Vegas. In this game, the rookie kicker for the Niners made history by successfully kicking the longest field goal ever seen in a Super Bowl.
After four drives without scoring to begin the Super Bowl, the Niners were able to score first on their fifth drive and put some points on the scoreboard to conclude the drive that originated from their own 17-yard line. They capitalized on the fifth drive with Jake Moody’s flawless kick in the second quarter.
Moody executed a flawless 55-yard field goal, giving the Niners a 3-0 advantage over the Chiefs. With that kick, the rookie placekicker now holds the record for the longest successfully made field goal in Super Bowl history. The previous record was 54 yards, achieved by the kicker for the Buffalo Bills in Super Bowl XXVIII. Watch the video of Moody’s perfect kick attached below.

So far in the championship game, the Niners have been performing exceptionally well, but have struggled to put up a significant number of points. Specifically, they have been dominating the line of scrimmage on both offense and defense. The Niners’ defensive line has been relentless in pressuring the Chiefs’ quarterback, Patrick Mahomes.
Consequently, the Chiefs’ offense has been remarkably quiet in the game, resulting in turmoil within their team. Nevertheless, there is still ample time for them to stage a comeback and defend their title.
The San Francisco 49ers surprised many when they selected Jake Moody, the quarterback from the Michigan Wolverines, with the 99th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. However, the rookie placekicker has proven to be a valuable asset for the Niners.
During the 2023 season, he successfully converted 22 out of 26 field goal attempts, including 3 out of 4 from distances of 50 yards or more. He has also made 60 out of 61 extra-point attempts in 17 games.

The rookie has had an impressive season and aims to conclude it with a Super Bowl victory against the Chiefs. Currently, the Niners are in control of the game.
