The Boston Celtics seem to be the top team in the NBA this season, boasting an impressive 38-12 record. They rank fifth in points per game, third in defensive rating, and second in offensive rating. However, their bench is a notable area of concern. According to reports, the Celtics have shown interest in acquiring Kelly Olynyk, Andre Drummond, and Delon Wright to bolster their roster before the NBA trade deadline. Olynyk, a former Celtics player, has proven to be a valuable two-way role player, contributing on both ends of the court with his defensive skills and consistent 3-point shooting. Standing at 6-foot-11 and 240 pounds, Olynyk’s versatility as a power forward and center could greatly benefit the Celtics, who are in need of frontcourt depth. Drummond, known for his dominant rebounding abilities, is a true center currently playing for the Chicago Bulls. He averages 8.3 rebounds and 7.7 points in just 15.8 minutes per game. Wright, a member of the Washington Wizards, provides the Celtics with another option as a decent 3-point shooter and capable defender. The Celtics’ lack of production from their bench, currently ranking 26th in bench points per game, could pose a challenge for them come playoff time, particularly when their star player, Jayson Tatum, is off the court.
